@ahh's review of Pragmata
★★★★
This feels like a game out of 2013 in the best way possible. A third person shooter where you control both the gun play and the hacking simultaneously, each encounter becomes a puzzle of how to manage a horde of bots that you must first hack and then destroy while dodging and wisely using your limited ammunition and special hacking powers. The two main characters, Hugh and the android Diana, have a fun uncle-niece relationship and the game keeps a fast pace on the somewhat predictable story beats (there are precisely 3 characters in the game and the third one becomes the villain). The challenge mode can feel a little unfair in some instances but the game as a whole is well balanced. Music has a great futuristic synth vibe with some piano, and the audio design makes all the weapons feel powerful. A great start to a potential series.
