@alanmagni's review of A Plague Tale: Requiem

★★★½

Playing the first game and Requiem back to back might have done the game a disservice, because by the middle of Requiem I was really tired of the stealth and combat. Requiem introduced some new mechanics and made the gameplay more versatile, but overall, it is still basically the same game. Gameplay wise, I would say the game is very mid. Stealth personally felt harder in the second game for some reason, so I often found myself getting caught by guards and then just running to the checkpoint door. It felt like I wasn't playing the game the way I was supposed to but the game allowed me to do it, so here we are. The conclusion to the story was very satisfying and made sense but the pacing was all over the place. In some chapters, the game dragged on for way too long and kept reusing the same mechanics over and over again. Especially that semi open world chapter in the middle of the game was a low point for me. I wouldn't say the game is bad by any means. The story is decent and the graphics are great but as an overall package, it's mid at best.
