@alanmagni's review of Pragmata
★★★★½
It's definitely a budget AA side project for Capcom, at least judging by the feel of it. A lot of reused assets, only a few characters in the game, and a small-scale story. They created a cool, unique combat system and built a game around it. I might be looking at it from a slightly negative side, but objectively speaking, it's definitely a smaller-scale game. They packed everything together very well, though. You never feel bored, and the story and overall progression move very organically. Although the locations are linear and not very big, you're always finding side paths with loot and getting those dopamine hits from it. I grabbed almost everything and upgraded a lot, and I still never felt overpowered. I feel like they found a really good balance in difficulty. You always have just enough power and tools to overcome your enemies. The dialogues and relationship progression between the two main characters might be the strongest part of the game. They constantly chat while you're exploring locations, which makes them feel very present. Definitely a recommendation from me, and I hope we get a sequel with a larger scale and bigger budget.
