@amy's review of Saros

★★★★½

Mid-way review Having just finished Act 1, I can easily say that this game rules. As much as I love Returnal, this game is wayyy more fun. Returnal is cold and gross and lonely, so many fights you cling to life by the skin of your teeth. In Saros you are an alien killing machine, there is no need to acquire a sword so you can start meleeing, from the get go you are smashing aliens in the face with your fists. The abilities and weapons all simply feel amazing, it feels almost like a spiritual succesor to the modern doom games. The weakest point is easily the story to me so far, I don't necessarily think that the story they're trying to tell is bad, I just find the way they're telling it frustrating. When the game is high energy nonstop shooting, i don't want to be reading a hundred different texts, I don't care much at all about the random people at base that only matter when I'm actually back there, and regarding that, it doesn't seem like it's fully built around players being good enough to not die? When characters go insane or get killed the second or third time I have ever spoken to them, I don't really feel that change or emotion the same way! Maybe the story wins me over later on, but I kinda just feel disconnected from it. Amazing game so far!
