An overall wonderful game, especially for those that just want to run around and explore a Pokémon world. The main complaint I have is that it has a hard time balancing the story linearity and open exploration. Each area unlocked has one core storyline that is slowly achieved by helping out the core group of Pokémon for that area in their goals. However, there are multitudes of other Pokémon that need to be found, housed, and helped in order to get the area level up high enough. There is often no set structure to this so you could easily complete an entire area by finding and increasing the happiness of a ton of Pokémon and never even finish rebuilding the Pokémon Center for that town. The core “ending” for the game is hidden behind a quest line that is first introduced at the beginning of the game and then never really brought up again until after you finish the final quest for the last area. These are not inherently bad things, but depending on your play style and what you want from the game, may detract from your overall enjoyment.
