Probably one of the best games i've ever played. No, i would not recommend it for the majority of people. Part alternate history, part dystopia, but thoroughly a political story that, at times, mirrors reality to a disconcerting degree. If you play through this and don't read it as a poignant critique of ai and and the role of tech in modern politics you're stupid i'm sorry. The main reason why, despite the beautiful story, i wouldn't recommend the game to everyone is that i think it requires a level of interest in the written word as a medium i'm not sure the average gamer holds. The entirety of the game is made up of reading "flavourtext" that explains the literature of this world, you're only given a snippet of each of the books you discover instead you have to piece together their contents and the connections between them through secondary sources written by the family who built the machine the whole archive runs on. This level of text heaviness, though, is one of the game's strengths to me personally though, as it becomes clear throughout the game that it was created by people who truly love language and how the written word as a medium is capable of transforming the way we observe and experience the world around us. So, i'd only really recommend this game to someone who loves a meta-textual analysis of language and how it and literature aren't inherently neutral agents in both the macro sense of politics and world affairs, but also in the micro sense of interpersonal relationships.
