Ever since its humble beginnings with Train Fever, I’ve been following the story of Urban Games, and time and again I’ve been able to attest that they’ve once again meaningfully evolved both themselves and their game. I can extend this same praise to Transport Fever 3. The expansion of the economic system is exactly what the series desperately needed to be taken seriously, even beyond the realm of virtual model railroad enthusiasts. The fact that I really had to fight toward the end of the campaign missions just to reach the minimum goal was a welcome change from the simple tasks in the previous game. And even in Free Play, I love how my logistics keep presenting me with new challenges. The progression system keeps me motivated, and the subsidy missions either save my butt or push me out of my comfort zone. We’ll see how many times I’ll have to completely rebuild the city where my headquarters is located by the year 2030.
