@deehar's review of Resident Evil 4
★★★★★
Resident Evil 4 (2005) is one of those rare games I consider a truly timeless masterpiece. Even today, you could argue that some aspects of its gameplay feel a little outdated, but the core experience remains incredibly fun. I still vividly remember spending entire days glued to my PS2, replaying sections over and over without ever getting bored. The tight pacing, memorable encounters, and constant sense of tension made it unforgettable, and those memories have stuck with me all these years later. With that legacy in mind, Resident Evil 4 Remake had enormous expectations to live up to and impressively, it delivers. Rather than simply modernizing the visuals, the remake carefully preserves what made the original special while refining its mechanics for a modern audience. Combat feels heavier and more deliberate, exploration is more rewarding, and the horror elements are given more room to breathe. It respects the original’s identity while enhancing it in meaningful ways. What makes the remake stand out is how it balances nostalgia with innovation. Familiar locations and iconic moments are still there, but they’re reimagined with improved atmosphere, stronger character development, and smoother gameplay. It doesn’t try to replace the original; instead, it complements it, offering a fresh experience that still feels unmistakably Resident Evil 4. In the end, Resident Evil 4 Remake proves that a classic doesn’t need to be reinvented to remain relevant. By understanding why the 2005 game became legendary in the first place, the remake successfully meets., and in many ways, exceeds expectations, standing as a worthy companion to one of gaming’s greatest titles.
