@radicallazers's review of The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
★★★
The Adventures of Elliot is a very flawed but charming game. The combat is fun and successfully blocking is satisfying. The variety of enemies is lacking hard. There are maybe 7 unique monsters that get palette and/or weapon swapped. The same goes for the bosses. A number of them get recycled over and over. Time travel is the main gimmick but each time period is the same freaking map with a slightly different town setup. The plot is pretty run of mill but the last act really salvaged the whole thing if you go for the true ending. The majority of the characters are likeable but like most mid budget square games the voice acting is rough. Best played in Japanese with Fairies banter turn off. The ending is cheesy but I like a bit of cheesy every now and again. Honestly the last portion really bumped up to 3 stars. Worth a play through if you can get it on sale, this isn't a full price game.
