It definitely felt like there were some pieces of the lore puzzle missing, but the puzzles and environments and the vibes are so good that it kinda doesn't really matter. The backtracking doesn't feel like backtracking, more like you're in a constant chase (which for a good bit, it actually is). The only thing that was a little tough was getting through the 2nd playthrough that's almost identical, definitely felt very 90s in that you're meant to replay the game several times over, which doesn't really translate to the current day. Luckily you can get through it in half the time because you *literally* just did it.
