@wazzagames's review of Splatoon Raiders
★★★★½
I once imagined how captivating a splatoon spinoff could be. With my gaming preferences having left online shooters over the last few years splatoon as a series looked excellent yet, i did not feel the urge to play the pvp. Luckily I think this game has the potential to stand-alone from the mainline games and form a rich new experience in it’s own spinoff series. Raiders blew my high expectations out of the water. The gameplay loop of this vibrant looter shooter had me hooked from start to finish. I loved upgrading all the tanks and experimenting with different builds and weapons. It’s so fun seeing how far you and the mechanic capabilities grow throughout the game from start well into the post game. The variety of salamoids and bosses felt like quality over quantity providing some particularly tricky fights. The levels had just enough variety on top of some quite difficult stages to keep me salivating for my next play session. The postgame is quite literally endless and will have me coming back routinely for more. My only nitpick would be for a little more in-depth narrative as I would have loved to see deepcut fleshed out more. Although it’s just one of those addicting fun gamey games you struggle to put down. I can officially say I am a splatoon fan and hope this switch 2 masterpiece blossoms into a full blown spinoff series.
