a goal of mine this year was to finally play the mass effect trilogy, and for the opening game in the series i absolutely loved this!! the world building alone is crazy to me, it’s so dense and rich with detail about every little corner of this universe that if you wanna dig deep you totally can lol. i also really loved a lot of the characters here. liara, garrus, & joker were my favs (including shepard the mc of course), but most of the characters i ending up feeling pretty good about. i also love the dialogue choices & reputation system. every decision that you make feels like it matters and effects the story, and i love when games are able to do that well because it makes me so much more immersed in what’s happening. plus i love how it encourages you to investigate and learn more about the world and the characters you interact with, which ties back to the world building. the only real negative i have is just that it can be a little janky or rough around the edges in some spots, but i presume most of the jank is just from the fact that its an older game at this point, and there are some times during gameplay or cutscenes where you can kinda feel that. overall though, i absolutely loved ME1, can’t wait to play the others :)
