@zimtiki's review of God of War: Ghost of Sparta

★★★★½

PART 4 BABY LETS GO! God of War: Ghost of Sparta takes place directly after the original game, as the newly throned God of War Kratos finds out that his brother, Deimos, is still alive. After fighting a big ol’ leviathan, accidentally sinking Atlantis, and PISSING off Poseidon, Kratos decides to venture off into the world of the dead, overlooked by Thanatos, the God of the Dead. (SPOILER!) After freeing his brother, the two fight as Deimos can’t forgive Kratos for “abandoning” him and letting him suffer. He quickly snaps out of it and joins Kratos in his fight against Thanatos. Kratos managed to kill Thanatos, though Deimos is lost in the battle. This ending changes Greek history, as he who kills the God of Death BECOMES the God of Death. Despite already being the God of War, Kratos has now become death: the destroyer of worlds. Something that will make more sense as the games progress. Overall, just like its PSP predecessor, this game is good as fuck. This is probably the best looking game I’ve ever seen on the PSP, and it runs as a constant 60 FPS. The folks that made this game understood the hardware, and it shows.‘the gameplay is fast and fluid, and is once again, very addicting. Rather than getting a ton of power ups in this game, Kratos is able to set the Blades of Chaos ablaze and use new, fancy combos to take down tougher enemies. Aside from being a little short once again, this game is a fantastic sequel that helps us realize why Kratos was so distant with the Gods in GOW2. This game should be played.
