@zimtiki's review of Luigi's Mansion
★★★★★
Luigi’s Mansion was a launch title for the GameCube meant to show what the console was capable of, and that it did. Despite it coming out with the GameCube on day one, this is still one of the BEST looking games on the console; it is absolutely DRIPPING with atmosphere. Despite its cartoony art style, this game manages to create one of the best looking, eerie maps in a video game to date. Every room, every hallway AND the outdoor area feel as detailed as a Disney World ride. The gameplay is addicting as hell too, having you explore a haunted mansion full of secrets and locked doors, slowly unlocking the entirety of the mansion as you explore and suck up ghosts using the handy Poltergust-3000 vacuum cleaner. The game maybe short, but the sheer tightness of the controls as you stun ghosts with your flashlight then fight against them as you attempt to suck them into your vacuum feels so good that the game’s short length is entirely forgivable. The only problem I can think of is that some of the bosses are too easy, but at the same time, that might just be because I’ve beaten them every single Halloween and have memorized their patterns. That’s right, I play this game once a year. Why? Because baby, this game is a MASTERPIECE.
