@zimtiki's review of Pikmin 3 Deluxe

★★★★★

On the planet Koppai, a neighboring planet to Hocotate, environmental disaster has brought the planet’s food supply to critically low levels, prompting them to send scientists across the galaxy to find new food sources. One group, consisting of Alph, Brittany, and Captain Charlie, crash lands on PNF-404, finding the Pikmin and an ABUNDANCE of fruits and even a couple of stranded Hocotatians that need their help… What can I say? This is a new Pikmin game with THREE captains now, which means multitasking is even MORE addicting; you can even have the different captains move to areas on their own if you simply point them in that direction on the map, meaning you can start a task with a different character while one character travels to the place you need them to be. It sounds complicated, but it’s exceedingly simple. This game also introduces us to Grey Rock Pikmin, and Flying Pink Pikmin. Also, rather than moving the Pikmin around with the right stick, you can use a charge move that launches them all forward towards a target. While it certainly makes combat easier, I kind of miss herding my Pikmin around me in circles. There are multiple challenge modes, a special mode that shows how Olimar once again ended up on this planet, and a multiplayer mode that I literally once played with my old friend for 6 straight hours, it’s that fun. I don’t know how they keep doing this, but damn. Nintendo has given us yet another masterpiece.
