@zimtiki's review of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2
★★★★
Tony Hawk is getting old… but his video games? They still make me feel young and nimble. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is a combination of the 2 original games in his series with the mechanics of 2 implemented into the 1 levels (since in THPS1 you could NOT manual… which is VERY important to keep combos going). This is a game that you turn on and just get RIGHT INTO man. The only problem here is that they kept the 2-minute time limit for the campaign, which I kind of preferred THPS4’s version where you can just free roam the map with no time limit. It definitely would take away part of the challenge, but I feel like it adds to the relaxation aspect of this game. Still though, these games remain fun as hell all these years later without doing much to change the formula. The story? Ha, no story here! Maybe one day they’ll remake Underground and Underground 2 which did have pretty entertaining story modes. For now though, just jump the gaps, collect S-K-A-T-E, collect the hidden video tape, and get a high score. This game is simple, but sometimes simplicity is what makes a game fun. You’ll put this game in and you’ll throw hours into it without any effort. I beat this game in one night because of how addicting it was. There’s little I’d change about this game besides the time limit. This is undoubtably a great time.
